Not Guilty"I Got a DWI the Summer Before Going to College"
A well-known graduate of a local high school in Charlotte was attending a party at a friend’s house when he decided to drive home that Friday night. What he thought was five minutes down the road turned into a five-hour long trip to a jail cell. Client was not driving poorly or swerving across lanes, but was going 50mph in a 35mph zone. Police pulled him over, smelled weed, and found residue in the vehicle. Additionally, the cop noticed that client had a green tongue which led the police to arrest the client for driving while impaired. Client hired Attorney Mark S. Jetton, Jr. because he was not pleading guilty and having this on his record forever. Attorney Jetton took it to trial and received a not guilty verdict because the State could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that client was driving while under the influence of an impairing substance.
Dismissed"Street Racer" Falsely Accused of Racing on the Streets of Charlotte
On April 2, 2021, Jetton and Meredith’s client was purportedly charged with two separate counts of prearranged street competition. A detective who had “firsthand” knowledge and experience dealing with prearranged racing believed he saw Jetton and Meredith’s client racing a 2021 Ford Super Duty Pick-up truck. When client was arrested and thrown in jail, client called Mark S. Jetton, Jr. to handle his case. Immediately, Mr. Jetton was able to get his vehicle which was seized improperly by a search warrant. After two years of rigorous case review, the case was in superior court. Mr. Jetton was able to convince the District Attorney’s Office that his client did not commit this charged offense. Mr. Jetton was able to show that the driver of the vehicle at the time that the races were taking place was not his client.
Dismissed16 year old girl charged with driving after consuming while under 21 years old.
On a normal New Year’s Day in 2022, client was traveling to McDonalds to get some food when she was abruptly cut off by another man driving at an erratic speed. When the client honked her horn, the man brake checked client and proceeded to follow client to the McDonalds. In the parking lot, the 16 year old client was flashed a gun and had her mirror ripped off. In complete shock and terror, the client stopped in front of a State Highway Patrolman’s home coincidentally. Once the patrolman found out what happened, he called for backup. When backup arrived, the other patrolman believed the client had been drinking and charged her with a DWI. Mark S. Jetton, Jr. was able to negotiate and find holes in the State’s case to earn the 16 year old girl a dismissal of the DWI charge. This allowed the client to keep her license.
Dismissed19-Year-Old Kid Abused by a Court Issued Domestic Violence Protective Order.
After graduating high school and excited for college, 19-year-old client had a girlfriend of one year that he was excited to spend the summer with. Because of the unknown future for either of them...their relationship took a turn for the worst. After a consented order agreed upon by both parties was issued, client’s girlfriend took out criminal charges (the highest misdemeanor charges in North Carolina). Client picked up the phone and called Jetton and Meredith legal team. The alleged victim explained that client was communicating with her through a discord chat room in which she set up. When appearing in court for client, Mark S. Jetton, Jr. was able to shine light on the lies and get client’s case completely dismissed and off client’s record.
Dismissed34-year-old Finance Manager Charged with Driving Reckless and going 36 MPH Over the Speed Limit
Estimated at traveling 100 mph on I-85 in Charlotte, NC, Jetton and Meredith’s client was lasered from 961 ft. Faced with the real change of losing his license, he turned to Mark S. Jetton, Jr. for help. Upon review the case, Mr. Jetton used his proven strategic methods to negotiate with the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office to get the case dismissed.
Dismissed3AM Run to Cook Out Restaurant Turns Into Near Disaster When Driver Falls Asleep
A man on a mission was interrupted when he passed out at 3:00 in the morning in line at the drive-thru for a late night burger at Cook Out. The police got curious about the sleeping customer and questioned him. He responded that he "drank a lot" of alcohol and that he shouldn't be driving. The officers gave him several field sobriety tests and arrested him for Driving While Impaired, finding an open container in the car. Once at the station he blew a .10 BAC on the intoxilyzer. Facing the fallout from his fast food foray, the man wisely hired Jetton and Meredith. Attorney Shaefer Shepard realized that the state would need two officers to prove their case. When both officers failed to show up to court at the trial date without a good excuse, the judge denied the state's motion to continue and the prosecutor dismissed the case.

The duration of aggravated assault cases varies depending on case complexity, court schedules, and plea bargaining. While some cases might resolve in a few months, others could take much longer to resolve fully.
How does aggravated assault differ from assault?
Aggravated assault involves an element that increases its severity, such as the use of a weapon or the intent to inflict serious injury. Simple assault does not include these elements and is generally considered a lesser charge.
What are the penalties for aggravated assault?
Penalties vary by jurisdiction but typically include imprisonment, fines, probation, or a combination. The severity of the penalties often depends on factors like the extent of injuries caused and the perpetrator's prior criminal history.
Can self-defense justify aggravated assault?
Self-defense can be a valid legal defense if you can prove that you acted to protect yourself from immediate harm or danger. The force used must be proportional to the threat faced.
