Personal Background

Before becoming an attorney, Shaefer competed at the highest levels of collegiate baseball as a right-handed pitcher for the University of Georgia Bulldogs and Catawba College Indians. His collegiate career included a 23–12 record at Catawba, South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year honors, multiple First Team All-SAC and All-Region selections, and All-American recognition. He also helped lead Catawba to the 2015 NCAA Division II National Championship game.

Shaefer's years as a collegiate athlete continue to influence the way he practices law today. Baseball taught him the importance of preparation, accountability, resilience, and remaining composed when the pressure is highest. As a pitcher, success often came down to preparation and execution in a critical moment—an experience that translates naturally to his work as a trial attorney.

That competitive background remains an important part of who Shaefer is as an attorney.
