Associate Attorney (Family Law)
About the Position
Jetton & Meredith is seeking an Associate Family Law Attorney to join our growing Family Law practice. This is an opportunity to build your career alongside an experienced team of family law attorneys while taking an active role in representing clients through some of the most important and challenging moments of their lives.
Our Family Law team handles a wide range of matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, separation agreements, and other complex domestic matters. The attorney in this position will work closely with our Family Law partners and legal support team while managing an assigned caseload and developing meaningful client relationships.

What You'll Do
As an Associate Family Law Attorney, you will:
Manage an assigned caseload of family law matters from intake through resolution
Communicate directly with clients and provide clear, practical legal guidance throughout their cases
Draft pleadings, motions, agreements, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents
Conduct legal research and analyze issues related to North Carolina family law
Prepare for and participate in hearings, calendar calls, mediations, negotiations, and other court proceedings
Work closely with partners, attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to develop case strategy
Review financial records, discovery responses, and other case-related documents
Negotiate with opposing counsel and assist in resolving matters when appropriate
Maintain organized and accurate case files, deadlines, and client communications
Provide responsive, professional, and compassionate service to clients
Participate in firm initiatives, professional development, and community involvement as appropriate
What We're Looking For
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law in North Carolina, or eligibility for admission
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical abilities
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines
Professional judgment and attention to detail
Ability to work independently while also collaborating with attorneys and support staff
A client-focused approach and an understanding of the sensitive nature of family law matters

Experienced Family Law Attorney and Litigator
About the Position
Jetton & Meredith is seeking an experienced Family Law Attorney to join our growing Family Law practice in Charlotte, North Carolina.
This position is designed for an attorney with meaningful family law and litigation experience who is comfortable taking ownership of an active caseload, developing case strategy, negotiating with opposing counsel, and representing clients in contested hearings and trials.
Our Family Law team handles matters ranging from divorce and custody disputes to complex equitable distribution, support, domestic violence, and high-asset cases. You will join an established team of attorneys and legal professionals while having the independence to manage your cases and advocate for your clients.
What You'll Do
Independently manage a caseload of contested and uncontested family law matters from initial representation through resolution
Represent clients in hearings, motions, mediations, depositions, negotiations, and trials
Handle matters involving divorce, child custody, child support, post-separation support, alimony, equitable distribution, domestic violence, and other family law issues
Develop and execute litigation strategies based on the facts, applicable law, and each client's individual goals
Prepare for and conduct contested hearings and trials
Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery, briefs, agreements, settlement documents, and other substantive legal filings
Analyze financial records, discovery, expert materials, and other evidence relevant to complex domestic matters
Advise clients regarding case strategy, potential outcomes, settlement considerations, and litigation risk
Negotiate directly with opposing counsel and pursue effective resolutions when appropriate
Maintain responsibility for case deadlines, preparation, client communication, and overall case progression
Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and other members of the Family Law team
Maintain a high standard of preparation, responsiveness, professionalism, and client service
Qualifications
Required:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Active North Carolina law license in good standing
Prior family law experience
Family law litigation and courtroom experience
Ability to independently manage an active caseload
Strong legal writing, research, negotiation, and analytical skills
Confidence communicating with clients, opposing counsel, judges, and court personnel
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to manage competing deadlines and complex matters
Preferred:
Experience handling contested family law hearings and trials
Experience with complex child custody matters
Experience with equitable distribution, alimony, and support matters
Experience handling high-asset or otherwise complex divorce cases
Established knowledge of North Carolina family law and local court procedures

About the Position
Jetton & Meredith is seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to join our growing Family Law team in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Our paralegals play an important role in both the management of our cases and the experience we provide to our clients. In this position, you will work closely with family law attorneys and other members of the legal team to manage cases, communicate with clients, prepare legal documents, coordinate discovery, and assist attorneys throughout all stages of a family law matter.
Our Family Law practice handles a wide range of matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, separation agreements, and complex domestic cases.
We are looking for someone who is organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
What You’ll Do
As a Family Law paralegal, you will:
Work directly with attorneys to manage family law cases from intake through resolution
Maintain organized case files, calendars, deadlines, and task lists
Communicate regularly and professionally with clients regarding case-related matters
Draft and prepare correspondence, pleadings, discovery, notices, and other legal documents
Assist with the preparation and organization of discovery requests and responses
Review and organize financial records, documents, and other case materials
Assist attorneys with preparation for hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials
Coordinate scheduling with clients, opposing counsel, courts, mediators, and other parties
File documents with the appropriate courts and maintain accurate filing records
Monitor case deadlines and proactively communicate upcoming needs to attorneys
Maintain current knowledge of assigned cases, including case status, relevant parties, upcoming deadlines, and outstanding tasks
Accurately record and submit billable time and maintain required case information in the firm's case management system
Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and other team members to provide responsive and efficient client service
What We’re Looking For
Prior paralegal or legal support experience; 2+ years preferred
Family law experience strongly preferred
Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate preferred, but not required
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to manage multiple cases, competing priorities, and deadline-sensitive projects
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent attention to detail
Professional and compassionate approach to client communication
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and effectively use legal practice-management technology
Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative legal team
Familiarity with North Carolina court procedures and family law filings is a plus
