J. Max Harris is an attorney on the family law team at Jetton & Meredith. Originally from Pinehurst, North Carolina, Max brings a thoughtful, strategic approach to his practice and is committed to helping clients navigate challenging and often deeply personal legal matters.

Max’s interest in advocacy and strategic thinking began at an early age. In high school, he was an active member of the debate club, where he developed an appreciation for critical thinking, careful preparation, and evaluating issues from multiple perspectives.

After high school, Max attended Sandhills Community College, where he earned his associate degree and served as Treasurer of the Student Government Association. He later transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he completed his bachelor’s degree.

These experiences helped shape Max’s decision to pursue a career in law. He was drawn to the legal profession because it offered an opportunity to use his analytical and problem-solving skills to help others while pursuing a career that would continually challenge him to learn, grow, and improve.

Max went on to earn his law degree from Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law. After graduating, he began his legal career in private practice in Smithfield, North Carolina, where he gained valuable experience representing clients and developing his skills as an advocate. He later relocated to Charlotte and joined Jetton & Meredith’s family law team.

In his practice, Max understands that family law matters can bring significant uncertainty and stress. He strives to approach each case with careful preparation, thoughtful strategy, and an understanding of each client’s individual circumstances and goals.

Outside of the office, Max enjoys spending time with his wife, golfing, running, and reading. A proud UNC alumnus, he is also an avid Tar Heel fan and enjoys cheering on UNC whenever he gets the chance.
